Associate Professor/Advanced Practice Nurse
Rutgers School of Nursing/Rutgers Health, Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School
Sharon has been a nurse for almost 40 years. She is a neonatal nurse practitioner, but for more than 2 decades, her clinical practice has been focused on genetics (more specifically inborn errors of metabolism, newborn screening, and pediatric genetics). She earned a master’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania, Doctor of Nursing Practice from La Salle University in Philadelphia, and is board-certified as a neonatal nurse practitioner and advanced practice nurse in genetics. Currently, she is an Associate Professor in the Division of Advanced Nursing Practice at Rutgers School of Nursing and maintains a Faculty Practice in Pediatric Medical Genetics at Rutgers Health, Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. When asked, even after all these years, she will say she is "at home in the NICU" and without question, her passion lies in the care of newborns and their families.
