Dr. DeLaine earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore School of Pharmacy in 2013. She then moved to San Antonio, Texas, where she completed a Pharmacy Practice Residency at the Children’s Hospital of San Antonio. Upon completing her residency, she became the hospital's first Emergency Medicine Pharmacist.
After four years, Dr. DeLaine returned to the east coast and joined Holy Cross Health as the Women & Children’s Clinical Pharmacy Specialist. There, she managed clinical and pharmacy operations for Maryland's busiest birthing hospital and largest Level III NICU, with an average of 26 babies born daily. In 2018, she achieved Board Certified Pediatric Pharmacy Specialist certification. Her work with the Tiny Baby Unit at Holy Cross Health led her to become a pharmacotherapy consultant for EngageGrowThrive’s Small Baby Care Specialist training program.
In the fall of 2022, Dr. DeLaine transitioned to Children’s National Hospital in Washington, DC, ranked #5 among children’s hospitals nationally, where she serves as one of two NICU Clinical Pharmacists in the nation's #2 NICU. At Children’s National, she focuses on parenteral nutrition and improving care for the hospital’s tiniest patients. Dr. DeLaine's career is driven by her passion for neonatal and pediatric pharmacy, tiny babies, and nutrition. She hopes her dedication to this unique patient population is evident in her presentation.
